Sugar Plum Photography is based in Kingswinford, Dudley, West Midlands. Families travel to the studio from Dudley, Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Halesowen, Oldbury, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Sedgley and surrounding areas.

Newborn sessions are ideally photographed between 5 and 14 days old, when babies are often naturally sleepy and curled up. However, I can photograph babies up to 8 weeks old as newborns, using different wraps and poses to suit their age and how alert they are.

I recommend booking your session during pregnancy, as my diary can fill up. I usually reserve a session for around a week after your due date, with flexibility to move the booking if your baby arrives early or late. If your baby has already arrived, please get in touch and I can check my current availability.

Don’t worry! Babies very rarely arrive on their actual due date! Your booking is arranged around your estimated due date, and there is flexibility to move your session if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected. Please let me know when your baby arrives so we can move in my diary if needed.

My full newborn portrait sessions allow approximately 2–4 hours in the studio. This gives us plenty of time to work at your baby’s pace, change setups and take breaks for feeding, cuddles and settling. I also offer a Short and Sweet Mini Newborn Session, which lasts approximately one hour.

Your baby’s comfort always comes first. Sessions are baby-led, so we take plenty of time for feeding, cuddles and settling whenever needed. I adapt poses and positions to suit your baby and there is no pressure for your little one to sleep throughout the whole session. If they are awake and settled we can get some beautiful wide eyed shots too! We work at a relaxed pace to capture beautiful memories while keeping your baby comfortable.

My newborn sessions include a choice of props, wraps, blankets and outfits but if there is something specific you’d like baby photographed in feel free to bring an outfit along. Even personalised or treasured items can be included. If there are any of my previous images, props, accessories or colour schemes that you particularly love, please let me know when enquiring so we can personalise your session.

My welcoming studio has a baby changing station, comfy seating area, tea and coffee making facilities and a WC which doubles up as changing room if parents would prefer to change at the studio. As well as the obvious heating, the studio also benefits from air conditioning for those ever regular heatwaves keeping you and baby a comfortable temperature. There is private off street parking directly outside the studio door too!

The studio door has a small step, approx 5 inches high which has been easily accessed by a wheelchair previously.

Yes! My full newborn portrait sessions can include photographs of baby individually with parents, as a family and siblings. Siblings will be posed appropriately depending on their age. They may be sitting next to baby in a crib, cuddling up on the flokati fur or holding baby on their lap or in their arms. Examples of these can be found in my newborn gallery!

I have a wonderful a choice of props, wraps, blankets, headbands, hats and outfits lots of which are shown in my gallery and on socials. We can also personalise your session around any of my previous images, props, accessories or colour ways that you particularly like and you can also have a browse through in the studio on the day. Please let me know any particular preferences when booking in.

Within 3 weeks of your newborn session, you will receive a link to your private online gallery. The gallery contains 25+ professionally hand-edited images, presented in both colour and black and white, for you to choose from. The short and sweet newborn session will include 10-15 images. You will receive a code to download the amount of images included in your chosen package straight from the gallery! Any prints included will be ready within two weeks of selection.

Yes! You can upgrade your collection if you wish or purchase individual wall art, prints and gifts directly from your online gallery. There is a full online store with everything from keyrings to acrylic framed panels!

I have gift certificates available yes. You can gift a whole session or an amount towards a session, ideal gift for family members, friends or baby showers!

You can enquire using the contact form on my website or via FB or instagram messages. Please include your name, email address, telephone number and your baby’s due date or date of birth if your baby has already arrived, along with any other details you’d like to share. Once we’ve discussed dates a £50 deposit is required to secure your booking, paid via a link to my booking app. With the balance of your chosen collection due on the day of your session.

Yes! If you’re considering a maternity session to capture your growing bump, you can save £50 on your maternity session when you book it in at the same time as your newborn session. A discount code is provided upon enquiry.
